Impact of clinical pharmacist's educational intervention tools in enhancing public awareness and perception of antibiotic use: A randomized control trial

IntroductionIn most developing countries, antimicrobial resistance is a public threat, and insufficient knowledge of antibiotics among the adds to it. This study aimed determine efficacy clinical pharmacist's pamphlets video-based educational tools address public's knowledge, attitude, practice gaps on antibiotic use.MethodsThis was pre-and post-intervention cohort adult population in South India who can read understand Tamil or English. The participants were designated into two groups-usual care group (pamphlet-based) interventional (video-based), with pre-intervention assessment using self-administered questionnaire, followed by an intervention pharmacist, finally, after three months.ResultOf the162 respondents, majority female (58%), age 26–35 (30%), intermediate education (43%) from middle-income family. mean score calculated for each domain groups: (Pamphlet based-Pre: 2.26 ± 1.13; post: 3.23 1.02), (Video 2.22 1.45; 3.95 0.89), Attitude 2.53 1.96; 0.9), 2.39 1.81; 4.21 1.35), Practice 2.19 1.02; 4.46 1.81). A significant improvement observed all domains counselling compared pamphlet-based (p < 0.001).ConclusionClinical pharmacists effectively help combating growing catastrophic AMR. Newer technologies need be deployed healthcare educate unreached. gives insight technology-supported tool provide awareness effectively.
